Highland Council has thrown its support behind SSE plans to extend the Gordonbush wind farm in the far north of Scotland.
Members of the north planning applications committee agreed unanimously to raise no objection to the proposals, pending deletion of one planned turbine and the reduction in height of a second.
Plans for what is now a 15-turbine boost to the operational 70MW wind farm in Sutherland will be determined by Scottish ministers under Section 36 powers.
Councillors acted in line with official recommendations for the extension following a site visit on Monday.
SSE welcomed the decision.
SSE project manager Michael Walker said: “We are a responsible developer and we look forward to building on the strong relationships we already have with the communities close to Gordonbush in East Sutherland.
“This sensitively designed project will blend well with the existing wind farm and will make best use of the existing infrastructure.”
