Statkraft is investigating the cause of an outage at its 55.2MW Hitra wind farm in western Norway, which could be out action for up to two months.
A transformer at the project in Trondelag county needs to be repaired after it sustained sudden damage in mid-August.
“The project will be out of production for an additional five-to-six weeks,” a company spokesman told reNEWS.
“An investigation is ongoing, but the root cause was most likely a lightening strike.”
Hitra, which was commissioned in 2004, features 2.3MW Bonus turbines.
Bonus was subsequently acquired by what is now known as Siemens Gamesa.
