Iberdrola Renewables has dusted off plans for the Horse Creek wind project in New York state after pausing a 96MW proposal a few years ago.
The Spain-based developer has submitted a 250MW interconnection request to the New York Independent System Operator, one of many steps needed to determine project viability, Iberdrola spokesman Paul Copleman told reNEWS.
The project size and number of turbines have yet to be finalized.
“Selecting a turbine and layout are the results of a multifaceted data puzzle that factors in variables we haven’t evaluated yet, like engineering, wind resource, and environmental considerations, to name a few,” said Copleman.
Iberdrola holds leases to about 10,000 acres in Jefferson County. It continues to operate a meteorological tower and seeks to install additional met masts.
If it goes ahead, the Horse Creek project will go through the Article 10 review process, led by the state Public Service Commission.
