AG Insurance (AG) has signed an agreement with Energy Infrastructure Partners (EIP) to become a significant minority shareholder in the 475MW Nysäter wind farm in Sweden.
Nysäter is located in the municipality of Härnösand, and is one of the largest onshore wind farms in Europe.
For AG, the investment represents a new step forward in its sustainable investment strategy.
The Nysäter wind farm came into operation in July 2022.
The facility consists of two areas, Hästkullen and Björnlandhöjden, covering 78 km² and producing 1.7 TWh of electricity per year.
The signing of this partnership forms the basis for a renewed and fruitful collaboration between Energy Infrastructure Partners and AG Insurance.
Wim Vermeir, chief investment officer at AG, said: “Investing in a sustainable way is one of the strategic goals we have set for AG.
“I am very pleased that AG has entered into this promising partnership with EIP and that we have acquired a significant minority stake in the Nysäter project.
“Earlier this year, AG Insurance exceeded the 10 billion euro mark in investments with a positive impact, and we continue on this path. This new investment shows that we are further expanding our portfolio of sustainable investments.”
