The Irish Wind Energy Association (IWEA) has appointed Gary Healy as its new chief executive.
Healy was former head of external relations and regulation at Vodafone and has a “strong knowledge” of the energy sector, IWEA said.
He will lead the lobby group through a period which will see some €2.7bn invested in the onshore wind sector until 2020.
IWEA chairman Peter Harte said Healy’s “track record” will be “invaluable” in managing the association.
“Gary has all the leadership qualities required to guide our membership and the wider industry through what we believe will be a very positive and transformative period for Ireland’s energy sector,” he said.
Healy said: “In joining IWEA, I am committed to working closely with our membership to realise the full potential of Ireland’s great indigenous energy resource and to deliver on our clean energy commitments to Ireland, both economically and environmentally.”
