Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK has completed five turbine bases at the 24.6MW Tirgwynt wind farm near Carno in Powys in Wales.
The company said that it had completed the bases on the north side of the project site ahead of schedule and has now turned its attention to the south side.
It will now construct the remaining tracks in the south and build four more bases by mid-May, with on-site cabling work scheduled to finish by the end of July.
The final three bases in the northern region will be installed after seasonal on-site restrictions due to local bird breeding are lifted in August, the company said.
Jones Bros is the principal balance of plant contractor for the project on behalf of client Awel Newydd Cyf.
Wind Prospect is project managing the construction of the wind farm, which is expected to begin generating electricity at the start of 2017.
Jones Bros is also building the substation on-site and carrying out associated electrical connections work as part of the £10m contract. Surrounding A, B and C roads will also be upgraded to aid turbine deliveries.
Jones Bros regional manager Hefin Lloyd-Davies (pictured at the Tirgwynt site) said: “We had a strict deadline to be out of the northern half due to the restrictions by February.
“As well as meeting that deadline, we managed to complete an extra turbine base, which will help us stay ahead of schedule when work re-starts in the area in August.
“Our efforts will now focus on the south side of the wind farm as we look ahead to turbine deliveries starting in August.”
