Kelag will begin implementation work on the 48MW Lavamund wind farm in September 2025.
The Carinthian project will feature seven turbines producing 79GW of electricity a year, enough to supply around 23,000 households.
Site preparation will begin this autumn, followed by foundation construction in summer 2026 and turbine installation and commissioning in 2027.
Power will be exported via a new connection to the Koralpe substation.
Kelag chief executive Danny Guthlein said: “For a successful shaping of our energy future, the consistent expansion of all renewable energy sources is essential.”
The €87m project was first developed in 2017 and has since undergone an eight-year permitting and environmental assessment process.
A total of 177 conditions were imposed under the EIA approval, with a focus on ecological and legal compliance, according to Kelag.
Chief executive Reinhard Draxler said the ruling underlined “the high standards of compliance with ecological and legal requirements”.
The development is one of several projects cleared under a four-party agreement on wind power in Carinthia signed in January 2025.
