Components for manufacturer Lagerwey’s new climbing crane, which the company says will enable faster and cheaper wind turbine installation, are under development by over 30 different suppliers.
The company said that by mid-March all the crane’s parts – about 700 pieces – will be delivered to Lagerwey’s production facility in the Netherlands for assembly and testing.
It said the middle and bottom sections of the crane’s mast will have cylinders attached that will allow the unit to climb.
The upper part comprises the masthead on which the boom is mounted and rotates, the company said.
