Mainstream Renewable Energy’s joint venture Lekela Power has recommenced wind turbine component delivery to the 140MW Loeriesfontein and 140MW Khobab wind farms in South Africa following a break for school holidays.
The projects will be expecting a further 750 loads to be delivered between January and September from the Port of Ngqura, in Port Elizabeth, to the two sister projects in Northern Cape, the developer said.
Transport is prohibited at night, during the school holiday period, on public holidays, during festivals or other special events, it added.
Khobab wind farm project manager Kevin Foster said: “”The blades, towers, hubs and nacelles are transported a distance of around 1158km and take approximately three days, travelling at maximum speed of 50 to 70km per hour.”
Lekela Power is a 60:40 joint venture between Mainstream and Actis.
