Renewables engineering consultancy LOC Group has been awarded a contract to support phase one of the 50MW Dong Hai 1 intertidal wind project in Vietnam.
The contract is for marine warranty services and was awarded by engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor BAC Phuong Joint Stock Company.
The scope of the services will be for loadout, transportation and installation of 13 units of Vestas V150-4.0 wind turbines, inter-turbine MV cables and link bridge sections.
Dong Hai 1 phase one will generate clean power for the Bac Lieu province and the south-west region of Vietnam.
The project site, in the Mekong Delta, is covered in water at high tide and has some of the turbines uncovered at low tide.
Key aspects of the project include construction of a new 22/110kV transformer station, a switchboard station, comprising six outgoing feeders, the formation of a 4.1 km 110kV transmission line to connect the turbines, plus circuits to connect the wind farm to the Dong Hai 1 power station.
LOC Group will run the project from its Singapore office, with support from other LOC offices and group companies, including Longitude and Innosea.
LOC Singapore project director Donny Ng said: “Winning this contract represents a further project to support the growth of the renewables industry in Vietnam.
“We are delighted to have won the contract and are looking forward to working with BAC Phuong Joint Stock Company.
“Winning this contract reflects the company’s proven experience in this area and of its growing presence in the south-east Asian renewables industry.”
Turbine installation is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2021.
