Low Carbon has submitted planning applications for 180MW of onshore wind capacity in Scotland, marking a major step in the UK developer’s renewable energy expansion.
The Section 36 applications were lodged with the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit for two projects: the 62MW High Brenfield Wind Farm in Argyll and Bute and the 118MW Glen Lednock Wind Farm in Perth and Kinross.
If approved, the projects will generate enough clean electricity to power over 175,000 homes a year and avoid around 240,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
Andy Sloan, project development director at Low Carbon, said: “Submitting two Section 36 applications is a landmark moment for Low Carbon in Scotland.
“These projects reflect our intent to become a leading player in onshore wind, building on the strong foundations we’ve established through our solar and battery portfolio across the UK and Europe.”
He added: “High Brenfield and Glen Lednock represent the next phase of our journey. Not only do they have the potential to play a crucial role supporting UK climate change targets, but they also reflect our commitment to forming long-term, sustainable energy partnerships with local communities.”
The company is developing a global renewables pipeline of around 16GW, with the latest Scottish applications set to reinforce its presence in the UK’s clean energy transition.
