US renewables developer Circle Power is to sell 40MW of electricity generated by eight wind turbines to Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) in Michigan through two power purchase agreements (PPAs).
The machines are located in Houghton County and will deliver electricity at some of the lowest prices for utility-scale renewable PPAs signed to-date in Michigan, according to public data from the Michigan Public Service Commission.
Circle Power has been engaging with local residents and stakeholders to secure the land, permits, grid interconnection and other requirements necessary for the turbines to be built.
They are slated to be operational by the end of 2023.
Circle Power managing partner Jordan Roberts said: “We are pleased to reach this significant milestone.
“UPPCO, as well as the Michigan Public Service Commission, were integral to the successful negotiation of these contracts, which will provide substantial value to UPPCO ratepayers.”
Circle Power is backed by Amber Infrastructure and its US parent Hunt Companies.
