MidAmerican Energy has selected US contractor Mortenson to build the 250MW Arbor Hill and 91MW Ivester wind farms in Iowa.
Arbor Hill, which is located in Adair County, will feature 125 Vestas turbines with hub heights of 95 metres, while Ivester in Grundy County will comprise 35 Siemens Gamesa machines with 80-metre hub heights.
The work covers access roads, foundations, collection system installation and turbine erection.
Arbor Hill and Ivester are part of MidAmerican’s Wind XI scheme to install 2GW of wind power in the state by 2019.
Mortenson wind energy group vice president and general manager Tim Maag said: “We continue to have a strong relationship with MidAmerican Energy and look forward to helping them reach their goal of serving their customers’ electricity demand with 100% renewable energy.”
