Mingyang Smart Energy Group has secured a 306MW turbine order for two wind farms in the Philippine.
The order, from Singaporean renewables developer Vena Energy, is for the 212.5MW Talim and the 93.75MW Sembrano wind farm projects, located in the province of Rizal.
The order includes the supply, transportation, installation and commissioning of 49 MySE 6.25-172 wind turbines as well as a long-term O&M service agreement for the two projects.
Commissioning is planned for late 2024.
The Philippines has suffered from severe power shortages and high electricity costs due to long-term dependence on imported fossil fuels and growing energy demand.
To address these challenges, the Philippine government has increased its support for renewable energy and aims to achieve a 50% share of renewable energy in its power structure by 2040, with wind power accounting for approximately 11.8GW.
In January of this year, during his state visit to Beijing, Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr met with a delegation of Chinese company representatives and held talks with Mingyang’s Chairman and CEO Zhang Chuanwei.
