Minnesota Power is looking to add up to 600MW of wind and solar capacity to diversify its electricity supply.
The US utility has released an initial request for proposals targeting 300MW of wind generation and will issue another one for 300MW of utility-scale solar projects in the next few weeks, it said.
Minnesota Power also plans to seek customer and utility-scale demand response and onsite generation resources to optimize its power supply portfolio.
The proposals for the wind capacity, which will be purchased under a long-term power purchase agreement, are due by 7 September.
