Construction work has temporarily halted on NextEra Energy Resources’ 200MW Osborn Wind Energy Center in Missouri, following the collapse of an installation crane on 17 October.
A spokesman for NextEra said that the crane fell while installing a turbine rotor, which also dropped to the ground and was damaged.
He added that no one was injured in the incident and the company is investigating the cause.
The project’s construction manager has “temporarily halted all activity on the site to reinforce safety protocols with the team”, the spokesman said.
He added that more than half of the wind farm, which is located in DeKalb County, has been completed and the company still expects the project will be finished by the end of the year.
