NextEra Energy Partners is to acquire wind and solar projects totalling 1388MW from a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources for about $1.275bn.
The 10 Wind farms are the 250MW Rush Springs and 98MW Breckinridge projects in Oklahoma, 208MW Ninnescah and 206MW Kingman 1 and 2 in Kansas, 200MW Javelina 2 in Texas, 46MW Golden Hills North in California, 90MW Cottonwood in Nebraska, 150MW Carousel in Colorado and 120MW Bluff Point in Indiana.
The deal also includes the 20MW Mountain View solar facility in Nevada.
NextEra Energy Partners will finance the acquisition through the $573m proceeds from the sale of Canadian assets and from an existing credit facility.
The credit facility will be immediately repaid through a new $750m convertible equity portfolio finance agreement with a fund manage by BlackRock Global Energy & Power Infrastructure.
The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of this year.
