Nordex has installed the first of its low wind-speed N131/3300 turbines at the Krampfer project in Germany.
The manufacturer said the 3.3MW machine was built in Brandenburg for Rostock company Voss Energy.
The machine is targetted at inland sites in Germany.
The N131/3300 will replace one of six planned 3MW Delta machines. The remaining five will be installed as originally scheduled in January.
“Despite bringing the installation of the N131/3300 forward several weeks weeks, everything went successfully,” said Nordex.
“The turbine now installed will be commissioned in the course of the next few days and connected to the grid before the end of the year. After commissioning Nordex will immediately start making the necessary measurements in order to validate the power curve and verify the sound power level,” it added.
Nordex said other projects based on the 3MW machine can “be very simply changed to the new turbine”.
