Nordex has helped Uruguay reach 1GW of installed wind capacity with the connection of the 13th 2.4MW N117/2400 turbine at the 142MW Pampa project.
The country expects to surpass 1.3GW of installed capacity by the end of 2016, aiming to supply 38% of its power consumption from wind in 2017.
Nordex has a total of 309MW installed in Uruguay at four wind farms – 67MW Juan Pablo Terra, 50MW Florida, 50MW Melowind and Pampa – with 209MW supplied on a turnkey basis.
The company also provides operation and maintenance services for all 309MW.
Nordex has been operating in Uruguay for 17 years, since the installation of a N27/150KW machine in 1999.
