German manufacturer Nordex has kicked off investigations following a turbine fire at the Midtfjellet wind farm in Norway.
The company said there was no immediate indication of the cause of the blaze, which knocked out an N90 in the early hours of Sunday morning.
No one was injured in the incident and the project’s remaining turbines have been shut down as a precaution.
“During the night of 31 October we had a fine in one of our turbines. The cause is not yet known,” said the company.
“We have secured the area and ask the public to keep a good distance from the affected turbine,” it added.
Midtfjellet (pictured) features a mix of turbines with 34 N90s and 10 N100s. It has been operational since December 2013.
The wind farm is owned by a consortium of Norwegian energy companies.
