Nordex booked orders totalling 2261MW in the fourth quarter of 2020, up 53% on the 1477MW secured in the same period of 2019.
The 491 turbines ordered in Q4 brought the total order intake for 2020 to 6020MW (1331 machines), down slightly on the 6207MW in the previous year.
The German manufacturer said the drop was down to occasional delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Nordex said the share attributable to the Delta4000 turbines increased to 81% for the full year from 44% in 2019.
The N163/5.X turbine alone accounted for 877MW of new orders, it said.
Europe accounted for 49% of the deals in the fourth quarter, with 28% in the US and 23% in Latin America.
For the full year, Europe made up 59% of the contracts across 16 countries, with Germany, Norway, the UK, Finland and France being the largest markets.
The US accounted for 20% of orders, while projects in Brazil, Chile and Colombia resulted in 21% of the volume.
Nordex chief executive Jose Luis Blanco said: “Significant major projects and a large number of orders, especially from our European core markets, recorded at the end of the year ensured that we were able to repeat the strong 2019 order performance in 2020.
“We are confident that this momentum will continue in the new year.
“The demand from our customers for efficient wind turbines to support climate-friendly electricity production continues unabated worldwide.”
