Nordex is to repower PNE Wind’s Altenbruch I wind farm near Cuxhaven in Germany with nine N117/3000 turbines.
The work, which will be completed by the end of 2016, will involve the replacement of 16 N60/1300 units.
Nordex said repowering accounted for 18% of all new installations in 2015 in Germany.
It added that, although the number of turbines installed at the wind farm will drop by almost half, the yield is expected to more than double.
Nordex German business head Jörg Hempel said: “In Germany, it is important to increase the output of existing wind farms and to simultaneously reduce the number of wind turbines.
“Looking forward, this will become even easier to do as we will be continuing to increase the installed capacity of our Delta series, thus making the system even more efficient.”
