Nordex has won a 187MW turbine order for the second construction phase of the Istanbul wind project in Turkey.
The Caba Grup has ordered 39 N133/4800 turbines from the Delta4000 series and Nordex will service the units for a period of 15 years.
Delivery of the turbines for this second construction phase is scheduled for late summer 2021.
Nordex had already received an order in 2019 for the first 24MW construction phase, Istanbul-I, featuring five N133/4800 turbines.
The first turbine from this order is being installed and the remaining turbines are under construction.
In total the Istanbul wind farm, located 50 km north-west of Istanbul on the Black Sea, will comprise 44 turbines once completed, making it the largest single licensed project in Turkey to date.
Nordex will install the turbines on 125-metre tubular steel towers.
When Istanbul starts operation, the Caba Grup will receive a higher feed-in tariff as Nordex is sourcing the rotor blades, anchor cages, towers and generators from Turkey.
According to the Turkish wind energy association TUREB, Nordex was once again the market leader in Turkey in 2020 with a market share of roughly 27%.
