Renewable Energy Systems Canada and Boralex have won a contract from the Independent Electricity System Operator for the 50MW Otter Creek wind farm in Ontario.
The contract is part of the Canadian province’s renewables support scheme and was awarded under the LRP I RFP process.
The project, which is situated on private lands in the municipality of Chatham-Kent, is expected to reach commercial operation by the end of 2019.
RES and Boralex have been joined by Walpole Island First Nation for the project which now has a 10.5% shareholding in the project.
The municipality of Chatham-Kent has also been granted an option to participate in the project up to 15% once commercial operation is reached.
The developers plan to organise public meetings shortly to “further engage with the communities, describe the community benefits and present the latest evolutions of the project”.
