The Turkselkä wind power project in Finland, developed by Tuulialfa, has been transferred to Swedish developer OX2.
Located in Vaala, Northern Ostrobothnia, the project is progressing towards the implementation phase and includes a total of 42 wind turbines.
The wind power project is located north of Kajaanintie on the border of the municipalities of Vaala, Paltamo and Puolanka.
The environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure for the project was carried out in 2018–2019 and the partial master plan was approved by the Vaala municipal council in summer 2020.
“It is great to be able to implement the Turkselkä project in the municipality of Vaala, which we are already familiar with.
“This is where the Metsälamminkangas wind farm, which we implemented and started operations last year, is located,” said Veli-Pekka Alkula, Project Development Director for onshore wind power at OX2.
The wind farm will be connected to the electricity grid with a new 110kv transmission line to be built at Fingrid’s Nuojuankangas substation.
“During this year and next, we are preparing towards the investment decision on implementation.
“We will continue with more detailed planning, and we will put out to tender the contracts related to the construction of the project and procurements, such as wind turbines.
“During the construction phase, we will make maximum use of the local workforce, and we will announce cooperation opportunities as the project progresses,” said Niklas Hokka, Project Manager at OX2.
