OX2 has acquired the 150MW Metsalamminkangas wind power project in Northern Ostrobothnia, in Finland from LahiTuuli.
Construction is planned to start in mid-2021.
The project, located in 120km south-east of the city of Oulu, will be one of the country’s largest wind farms when complete.
OX2 country manager Teemu Loikkanen said: “The project strengthens our position as the leading wind power operator in the Nordic countries.”
“Competitor tenders and negotiations on the power purchase agreement and financing have already started. Our goal is that construction can begin next spring, when power plant deliveries will take place in the summer of 2021.”
The project has a sub-plan, which allows the construction of 24 wind turbines.
The maximum total height of wind turbines will be about 230 metres.
The Metsalamminkangas wind farm will be connected to the grid via Fingrid’s Vuolijoki substation by extending 32km of existing 110kV cable tie.
Project developer LahiTuuli managing director Miika Pilli said: “From the beginning, Metsalamminkangas has been a very important project for us and it is great to see it move to the next stage.”
