Australian developer Epuron has expanded the design of its Burrendong wind farm in New South Wales to 650MW from 400MW previously.
The expansion is in response to WaterNSW, through its Renewable Energy and Storage Program, seeking investment in clean power generation and storage assets on its land to support the state’s energy security and achieve the objectives outlined in the NSW Electricity Strategy.
Epuron said this includes land around Burrendong Dam and based on the opportunity it is participating in WaterNSW’s process and has revised the Burrendong wind farm proposal to incorporate additional turbines on adjacent WaterNSW land.
The company now plans for Burrendong to feature 105 turbines instead of 69 previously.
It added that updated requirements for the project’s Environmental Impact Assessment are due to be issued by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment.
In the meantime, assessments and specialist reports for the project are being updated to reflect the expanded project.
