The 170MW Mount Emerald wind farm in Australia has secured a power purchase agreement from state-owned utility Ergon Energy.
The project, located in the north of Queensland, is being developed by Ratch Australia and Port Bajool.
It will represent an investment of more than $400 million over the two-year construction and 25-year life of the project, the state government said.
Queensland energy minister Mark Bailey said the deal was a major step forward for the state.
“The project would mean wind energy in Queensland would increase by 15 times, with only 12MW of installed wind energy in our state.”
