US developer Pattern Energy is nearing the finish line at the 180MW Meikle wind farm in British Columbia in western Canada.
The developer has completed construction and is commissioning the 61 GE turbines, a mix of 3.2MW-103 and 2.75MW-120 machines.
“We expect to start operations in January 2017, weather permitting,” Pattern construction manager Michael Thomson told reNEWS.
Canadian company Borea Construction is the general contractor for the remote Meikle project, located about 30km north of Tumbler Ridge in the mountains of the Peace region.
Provincial utility BC Hydro has agreed to buy the output under a 25-year electricity purchase deal.
When complete, Meikle will be the largest wind farm in the province.
