Peikko has received an order from Finnish infrastructure business Destia, to deliver its Gravity7 foundation solution to the Niinimäki wind park project in the city of Pieksämäki.
Upon completion, the 145.2MW project will be the largest wind park in Eastern Finland.
Peikko will be responsible for the design of the foundation structure and the delivery of PSB punching reinforcement systems for the project’s 22 foundations.
Deliveries are scheduled between June and October 2023, and the site is expected to be operational by the end of 2024.
The original developer of the wind park was Tornator, whose rights were purchased by OX2 Finland Oy in 2020.
OX2 has completed the park’s development.
Owners of the site are energy company Helen Ltd and Bank of Åland’s Wind Power Fund.
Once commissioned, OX2 will be responsible for the technical and commercial management of the wind farm.
Destia, the main contractor for the civil works, will plan and construct roads, lifting areas, and foundation works, and will also build the wind farm’s electricity and data networks.
Siemens Gamesa will supply 22 SGRE 6.6-170 turbines, each with a maximum tip height of 250 metres.
Chief executive of Peikko Group Corporation Topi Paananen said: “We are proud to have been chosen as the supplier for this geographically significant wind power project in Eastern Finland.
“Our Gravity7 solution provides an optimal solution in terms of safety, CO2 emissions, and costs.
“Being part of green energy production supports our goals for a more sustainable way to design and build.”
