Q Energy and Velto Renewables have inaugurated the 26MW Haut-Chemin 2 wind farm in the Haute-Marne region of France.
The companies said the seven-turbine extension, located in the municipality of Biesles, expands the existing 20MW Haut-Chemin site commissioned by Q Energy in 2014.
They said the project will generate enough green electricity to supply about 29,500 additional people while avoiding around 27,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
Q Energy said the inauguration follows the launch of its Îlots Blandin floating solar project earlier this year and brings its installed renewable capacity in Haute-Marne close to 300MW, supplying power to more than 250,000 people each year.
The company said Haut-Chemin 2 represents the culmination of a decade of collaboration with local partners since the project was launched in 2015 and fully permitted in 2023.
Q Energy team lead for wind development Alice Fournier said: “The inauguration of the Haut-Chemin 2 wind farm marks the culmination of ten years of collaboration with local stakeholders who are firmly committed to an energy transition project that contributes to economic and regional development.”
She added: “We are very grateful for this support and proud of the great trust that has been placed in us to give green energy a further boost in the Haute-Marne region.”
Q Energy said the project is the fourth renewable facility it has delivered with Velto Renewables as part of a long-term partnership.
Velto Renewables portfolio manager for France Lionel Daras said: “This project fully embodies our commitment to supporting territories in their energy transition. We are delighted to establish a long-term presence in Haute-Marne alongside local stakeholders.”
Velto Renewables chief executive Lucas de Haro said: “Today marks the commissioning of our first wind project in France, a key milestone that confirms our ambition to become a local clean energy producer in the country and a leading wind player in Europe.”
