Grid upgrades and new wind energy project developments in the USA led to record-breaking output in October of over 12GW in Texas and the Midwest, according to American Wind Energy Association.
On 28 October, MISO, the Midwest grid operator, set a record with output of 12.383GW. It beat a record set on 22 October in Texas where output was 12.238GW.
MISO had held the record of 11.93GW set on 8 January 8, 2015.
On 2 October, Xcel’s Public Service Company of Colorado set a new record of 2.352GW of wind output.
The SPP, the grid operator for Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and parts of neighboring states, hit 8.458GW of wind on 18 October.
