Vienna-based Renalfa IPP is acquiring an operational 73MW wind farm in Bulgaria from Swiss group Alpiq to add to its growing renewable energy portfolio.
As part of a wider acquisition, the rest of Alpiq’s subsidiaries in Bulgaria, comprising O&M provider Alpiq Wind Services and electricity trader Alpiq Energia Bulgaria, will be taken over by Bulgarian companies from the Renalfa Group.
The sale is subject to the usual closing conditions, in particular to the approval of the applicable competition authorities.
The Vetrocom wind farm in Bulgaria has a capacity of 72.5MW and is wholly owned by Alpiq.
Renalfa IPP is a joint venture between the French infrastructure fund manager Rgreen Invest and the Vienna-based Renalfa Solarpro Group.
The latter is also taking over Alpiq Wind Services, which specialises in the operation and maintenance of wind turbines, as well as Alpiq Energia Bulgaria’s electricity trading business.
Alpiq constructed the Vetrocom wind farm near the town of Kazanlak, 200km east of Sofia, commissioned the 29 turbines in three stages between 2010 and 2012 and successfully operated the site for more than 10 years.
