Hiring managers in the renewable energy industry think there is a lack of talent coming into the sector, according to a new report.
One in five think there are too few professionals moving into renewables, the first Global Energy Talent Index study shows.
The report, produced by Airswift and Energy Jobline, surveyed over 16,000 professionals worldwide within the oil and gas, renewables, power, nuclear and petrochemicals sectors.
It includes information on hiring rates, global mobility, regional energy hotspots and the flow of talent between sectors.
The survey shows that 75% of hiring managers in the clean energy industry would hire workers from other sectors and that half of the renewables professionals value a health plan over other benefits.
“Our results show that this is crunch time for the renewables sector,” Energy Jobline managing director Hannah Peet said. “One in five hiring managers think there’s a lack of talent coming into the sector and inadequate planning could be to blame.””Yet instead of being alarmed by these figures, hiring managers should see them as an opportunity.
“They’ve recognised this early and while they still have a relatively young workforce.”
