RES has begun commercial operation of a 492MW wind farm in Texas, in the US.
Maverick Creek, in Concho County, is the largest single project developed and constructed by RES in North America.
Construction of the wind farm, which hosts 127 turbines, began in September 2019 and created 400 construction jobs during peak construction and 25 full-time jobs to operate the facility.
“RES has met the challenge to deliver clean energy in Texas head on,” said Tim Jordan, RES construction senior vice president.
“We are proud of working alongside Algonquin to make clean energy a reality in Texas and are particularly grateful to our team that worked throughout the pandemic and engaged with the local community.”
The project was originally developed by Roaring Fork Wind, a joint venture partnership between RES and Steelhead Americas, Vestas’ development arm in North America.
In August 2019, RES announced a joint agreement with Algonquin Power & Utilities Corporation to develop the project.
