Dutch turbine manufacturer Lagerwey has signed a licensing agreement with Russian company OTEK, a subsidiary of Rosatom.
The deal clears the way for production of 250MW of hardware each year for both the nascent Russian wind market and that of neighbouring countries.
The licence agreement is the starting point for creating a joint venture “which will be formed this year”. Rosatom holds the rights to build around 1GW of projects.
Components including blades will be produced in Volgodonsk with Lagerwey supporting training of OTEK employees and leading the charge on local supply deals.
Lagerwey chief executive Huib Morelisse said: “We are proud that we as a Dutch wind turbine supplier are instrumental in creating a Russian wind industry. This is an important step in the expansion of Lagerwey technologies.”
