RWE has filed a planning application to optimise the consented Enoch Hill wind farm in East Ayrshire, Scotland.
The application confirms plans already laid out in scoping paperwork released this February and reported in the subscriber-only reNEWS, seeking consent to increase tip heights to 149.9 metres from 130 metres and rotor diameter to 136 metres from from 106 metres.
Planning documents suggest this could push capacity to 80MW from 54.4MW, while keeping locations for the 16 machines unchanged.
RWE is seeking to “remove any specified or implied limitation on the MW generation capacity of all 16 turbines”.
It is also looing to increase consent to 30 years, rather than 25. The earlier scheme was consented by the Scottish government in September and was originally developed by Eon.
Most other aspects of the development remain unchanged from the consented scheme.
The site is situated between Dalmellington and New Cumnock.
RWE also filed scoping paperwork earlier this year to East Ayrshire Council, Scotland, to test the waters for a two-turbine, 11.2MW extension at the site.
