RWE has secured contracts for difference for four projects totalling 68MW in Italy’s FER-X renewables auction.
The company said the Serra Giannina wind farm in Basilicata will feature six turbines with a capacity of 42MW.
RWE added that two ground-mounted solar plants, Ponte Valentino 1 and 2 in Campania, will deliver 17.65MWac, while the 8MWac Agri-PV project Carcitella will be located in Sicily.
Construction of all four projects is due to start in 2026.
Katja Wunschel, chief executive of RWE Renewables Europe and Australia, said: “This auction success is a fantastic milestone.”
She added: “Besides further solar projects it includes our 20th onshore wind farm in Italy.”
Wunschel stated: “We are proud to further support the country’s ambitious expansion goals.”
She said: “Looking ahead to upcoming auctions, aligning auction values with real technology costs will be key to unlocking even more capacity and accelerating Italy’s energy transition.”
