RWE has been awarded two new onshore wind projects in France’s latest national tender round run by the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE).
The Balinot project in the Oise department and the Langonnet project in Morbihan were among 42 successful bids selected from more than 90 submissions in the 10th round of the PPE2 programme, which awarded a total of 952.8MW at an average price of €86.6/MWh.
Each project will comprise three turbines with an individual capacity of 10.8MW and will collectively supply clean electricity to more than 15,000 households. Both wind farms are fully owned by RWE.
RWE Renewables Europe and Australia chief executive Katja Wünschel said: “I would like to congratulate all the teams who contributed to RWE’s success in this tender. The consistency of our achievements, tender after tender, reflects the strength of our long-term strategy and the dedication of our teams to developing high-quality projects across France.”
RWE said the win capped a strong year for its French renewables business, with more than 83MW of wind and solar projects commissioned in recent months and 82MW secured in the 2024 CRE onshore tender.
Including Balinot and Langonnet, the company has now been awarded 172.6MW of onshore wind and 19.6MWac of solar capacity in the 2025 tenders.
RWE’s French portfolio now includes around 1.6GW of onshore wind and 1GWp of solar projects under development, with 275MW already commissioned since 2020.
