US developer Salka has agreed to sell its 56.9MW Summit wind farm in northern California to investment firm Castlelake.
Salka is currently repowering the facility in the Altamont Pass area near Livermore, working to replace its 569 100kW turbines with 27 2MW machines.
Works started last December and are expected to be complete late this year or in early 2018.
Funds managed by Castlelake will own and operate the wind farm from then on, Salka said.
The company, based in San Diego, expects to close what is its first wind farm sale this summer.
It has developed 11 wind and solar power projects with over 1GW to date.
“Repowering the Altamont Pass wind farm will have a profound impact on the Alameda County economy,” Salka chief executive Jiddu Tapia said.
“Not only will the redevelopment process create local jobs, but the energy produced at the site will provide an affordable, dependable way for the east San Francisco Bay Area to meet its expanding power needs for generations to come.”
