SaskPower has started a competitive procurement process to add up to 200MW of wind power to its electricity supply mix in Saskatchewan.
The company said the request for qualification stage is underway, with the request for proposal stage beginning later this year.
It added that the Ministry of Environment’s recently released ‘Wildlife Siting Guidelines for Saskatchewan Wind Energy Projects’ will be used to help proponents identify suitable sites.
Projects will be expected to be in service in late 2020.
Minister Responsible for SaskPower Gordon Wyant said: “The addition of wind projects will help us reach our goal of up to 50% of power from renewable sources by 2030.”
