Scottish authorities have rejected plans for Community Windpower’s proposed 315MW Faw Side onshore wind farm.
The 45-turbine project would have been sited along the A7 between Langholm and Teviothead in Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders.
The councils in both areas objected to the development, saying Faw Side would have negative visual impacts and a detrimental effect on the surrounding landscape.
The Ministry of Defence (MOD) objected that the project would have significant effects on the operation and capability of the Eskdalemuir Seismological Recording Station and Array, which measures vibrations from nuclear tests.
Historic Environment Scotland (HES) also warned that the project would could impact the nearby Eweslees Watch Tower.
The Scottish government decided, due to these impacts, the scheme should be rejected.
