The Scottish government has approved a pair of wind farms in the south of the country totalling 126MW – but rejected a 30MW project.
Secretary of State Keith Brown gave the go ahead to the 24-turbine Stranoch project in Dumfries and Galloway, developed by Wind Propsect and EDF, which will total 72MW.
The minister also approved the 54MW Cloich project in the Scottish Borders, developed by Partnerships for Renewables.
The consents were in line with the recommendations of a Scottish government reporter following public inquiries.
However, ministerial colleague Kevin Stewart, in charge of the planning brief, rejected Engie/West Coast Energy’s eight-turbine Hag Law near Romanno Bridge.
“The growth of onshore wind in recent years has been the key factor in the expansion of renewable energy in Scotland: creating jobs, providing secure and low-carbon energy and delivering significant community benefits,” said Brown.
