Senvion has received the go-ahead for a turnkey order for 24 turbines for the 86MW second stage of Nexif Energy’s Lincoln Gap wind farm in South Australia.
The order covers 3.6M140 machines that will be installed and operating by mid-2020, the German manufacturer said.
Construction of phase one of Lincoln Gap is underway, comprising 35 Senvion turbines of the same model.
When both stages are complete the wind farm will have total output of 212MW.
The go-ahead for phase two follows the issue of a ‘Notice to Proceed’ by Nexif, Senvion said.
Senvion executive director David Hardy said: “We are pleased to have secured the official go-ahead to deliver the second stage of the Lincoln Gap wind farm.
“This is a great affirmation of the performance of our local team and we are very pleased about the ongoing cooperation with Nexif Energy.
“We are also committed to continue to work closely with the local community to provide opportunities for businesses and individuals to benefit from this important project.”
Nexif projects and operations vice president Srinivas Rao said: “We are pleased to extend our relationship with Senvion on the Lincoln Gap project.
“Australia is a very competitive market and Senvion’s technology package and turnkey approach has greatly contributed to the success of this complex wind farm project.
“Lincoln Gap Wind Farm, when constructed, will represent a total investment of more than $480m by Nexif Energy in Australia.”
