Senvion has won a 151MW turbine contract to supply Banks Group wind farms in Scotland and England.
The German manufacturer will deliver 41 of its 3.4M114 machines by April 2018 to the 88.4MW Kype Muir and 51MW Middle Muir wind farms in South Lanarkshire.
The deal was long expected north of the border and first reported earlier this year in subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS.
Senvion will also deliver six 2.05MW turbines to the 12.3MW Moor House project north east of Darlington, which is due to be online before the end of 2017.
Banks also agreed 20-year operations and maintenance contracts with Senvion for the three projects, all of which were successful in securing Contracts for Difference in last year’s auction.
Executive director Richard Dunkley said: “Modern, efficient onshore wind farms such as Middle Muir, Kype Muir and Moor House are acknowledged as providing the lowest cost form of carbon-free renewable energy generation for the UK, and we firmly believe they have a central role to play in the UK’s future energy mix.”
He added: “The high quality turbines and support package offered by Senvion match the requirements for each of these schemes extremely well and we’re very pleased to be working with them once again.”
Raymond Gilfedder, managing director of Senvion Northern Europe, said: “The successful conclusion of these three contracts demonstrates the strength of the Senvion product portfolio for the UK market and continues what has been a very promising 2016 for Senvion so far.”
