Siemens Gamesa has secured a deal to supply 4.X turbines for a 200MW wind farm in China, its first contract for the platform in the market.
The German-Spanish manufacturer will deliver 42 4.8MW-rated units to local independent power producer Xinjiang TBEA Group for the project in the city of Changji in the region of Xinjiang.
The turbines will have 145-metre rotors and commissioning is expected by the end of 2020.
Hardware will be equipped to deal with the site’s medium wind conditions and potentially low temperatures during winter.
“We’re delighted to see our first project landing in Xinjiang and strengthen our partnership with TBEA to support its expansion in the renewable energy sector,” said APAC onshore chief stated Richard Paul Luijendijk.
“Following a previous Siemens Gamesa 3.X platform order with TBEA earlier this year, this new order reflects the customer’s trust in Siemens Gamesa products, technology and our capability of undertaking complex logistics and project execution.”
