Siemens Gamesa has signed a turbine supply deal with Engie totalling 434MW for the Santo Agostinho wind farm in Brazil.
The contract is to supply 70 5.8-170 turbines with OptimaFlex technology, enhanced to operate at 6.2MW.
Santo Agostinho is located in the north-east Rio Grande do Norte state.
Siemens Gamesa will locally produce the turbine at its plant in Camacari in the state of Bahia.
Siemens Gamesa onshore business chief executive Lars Bondo Krogsgaard said: “This deal underscores how attractive the Siemens Gamesa 5.X platform is becoming globally, and we are pleased to continue to develop a close partnership with Engie in Brazil on top of this.
“The country is truly becoming a beacon for wind energy in Latin America.”
The latest deal means the company has sold 1.2GW of the 5.X platform in Brazil, and over 2.2GW globally.
