Siemens Gamesa is to supply the turbines for a 302MW project being developed by Ayana Renewable Power in the State of Karnataka, India.
The manufacturer will supply 84 of its SG 3.6-145 turbines for the unnamed Gadag district project, which is expected to be commissioned in 2023.
Siemens Gamesa will supply the turbines, an extension of the SG 3.4-145, from its manufacturing plants in India.
Indian developer Ayana, which is backed by India for National Investment and Infrastructure Fund, first partnered with Siemens Gamesa in 2019 for a 300MW solar farm in the state of Rajasthan.
Ayana won the Gadag project in the SECI ISTS Tranche X tender and currently has 3GW of renewable energy capacity under development and in operation across several Indian states.
Siemens Gamesa launched the SG 3.6-145 turbine in 2020 and announced its first orders in July this year for 623MW.
This latest agreement brings total order intake for its 3.X platform in India to 925MW.
Navin Dewaji, India CEO of Siemens Gamesa, said: “We are happy to announce this new deal with Ayana Renewable Power, one of the fastest growing renewable Independent Power Producers (IPPs) in India. This order significantly helps us as we gear up for the next growth phase for Siemens Gamesa in India.”
