Siemens has received an order to supply turbines to the 100MW Hornsdale 2 wind farm in southern Australia.
The company will install 32 3.2MW turbines for the second phase of the project near Jamestown, which follows the first one Siemens won last year.
Both facilities are being developed by French company Neoen.
The turbines, with a rotor diameter of 113 meters, will start being installed in December and begin operating by June 2017.
The second phase will achieve a record low price of A$77 per MWh thanks to excellent wind resources, important synergies with the first one as well as optimal finance and equity structures, Siemens said.
“Hornsdale Stage 2 is another great example of the global strength of France and Germany working together to provide clean energy for 70,000 Australian homes and new employment, training and investment opportunities in South Australia and the ACT,” Neoen chief executive Xavier Barbaro said.
“With almost 40% of the country’s clean energy produced by wind farms, Australia’s renewable energy footprint is increasing in size and global relevance – making it a great place to invest and do business.”
