SSE has completed the first turbine base for its 18.8MW Slieve Divena II wind farm in County Tyrone in Northern Ireland.
Enercon is the lead contractor on the project and has been working on the site near Ballygawley since May.
The work includes the preparation and installation of the turbines bases, which are constructed from approximately 450 metres squared of concrete, SSE said.
The completion of the first base means turbine components for the eight Enercon E-92 2.35MW units will soon start to arrive at the site.
The turbines will have tip heights of 125 metres, hub heights of 78.3 metres and a rotor diameters of 92 metres.
The project is expected to be fully operational by spring 2017.
NRS Group is carrying out civil engineering works, while geotechnical engineering consultancy Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions carried out risk analysis and construction-related quality control for the work on the turbine base.
